After the Slalom discipline, the Freestyle discipline will start on Thursday 29th of July in La Barca beach. A total of 44 contestants made their entries on Wednesday. Promotional strategy of the Government of the Canary Islands

The Tourist Department of the Canary Islands Government launched in 2009 a promotional strategy to make the exceptionality of the Canary Islands as water sports destination known. Worth mentioning within the strategic plan is the sponsorship program of water sports events that take place in its coasts, and which have made the islands an international reference point for these sports. The special wind, sun and wave conditions throughout the year make the Archipelago a unique destination in Europe for water sports, where windsurfing and kiteboarding play a prominent role.

The strategy of the Government of the Canary Islands focuses on two innovative initiatives: the Waters Sports Experience label, which certifies the quality, professionalism and safety of the products and services offered by all water sports related establishments that wish to adhere to it, and the Islas Canarias Water Sports Scuderia Project, which gathers under a unifying concept all the top-level sports and human assets of the Canary Islands.
