Getting to know the Canary Islands, their origins, their rich history and tradition is a real discovery. From the striking remains of the legendary culture of the Guanche people to the most avant-garde artistic creation, your days will be spent visiting museums, ethnographic parks, archaeological sites and art centres which will all help to create a different point of view.

The historical heritage of the islands includes villages and cities full of stately buildings of colonial style and typically Canarian architecture, with their wooden balconies and attractive central courtyards, cobbled streets and places so carefully conserved that they will take you back to a splendid past where trade and voyages of discovery left indelible footprints of other cultures and peoples.

Live all the colour and joy of picturesque, traditional fiestas where you will receive the warmth and hospitality of a friendly people, who will do their best to make you feel at home while you get to know the real Canary Islands.

But in the Canaries, interest in the arts is visible in many types of creative events, with intriguing local shows staged alongside the most renowned names from the international artistic scene filling exhibition halls, theatres, auditoria and international festivals featuring both music and films; great traditional and contemporary craftwork fairs; of photography and the plastic arts …. all part of a scheduled programme that lasts throughout the year, to enable you to enjoy a new and surprising date with culture every day.

As it is always spring in the Canaries, open-air concerts and festivals are another way of enjoying music and the scenic arts, and there is no better stage than the villages, beaches and squares; nor could there be a better setting than the night sky carpeted with stars.

Shows, religious festivals and fiestas in honour of a patron saint, Holy Week, Corpus Christi, and celebrations to mark the grape harvest and wine making …. and the Carnival, one of the most spectacular in the world, all go to constitute a cultural and leisure agenda suitable for every age and taste.
