The Charco de los Clicos (Clicos puddle) or Lago Verde (green lake) is a lagoon that forms in the Golfo area, a few meters away from the sea. It is in the sorrounding area to the south of the sea water protection area of Timanfaya National Park, but outside the park. The Golfo is an old lava dome that was surrounded by lava flows from the volcanos of the area. Sea erosion made the rest of the work, reducing the size of the old mountain. The lava flows from Timanfaya helped to form the Charco de los Clicos or Laguna Verde, that is separated from the see by a black sand beach. Its deep green colour is due to the phytoplankton suspended in the water. People do not swim in the puddle but in the beach nearby. The surrounding area is 35 kilometres away from the General Hospital.
